MWR-104 — Islam continues the Remnant Bible Academy’s Major World Religions courses with a thorough, Scripture-grounded examination of the world’s second-largest religion. First laying the groundwork: Islam’s seventh-century origin and development, the Islamic calendar, the Quran, the hadith, and the Five Pillars, the major holy sites and mosques and Islam’s general leadership principles, the Six Articles of Faith, the Nation of Islam, and Islamic eschatology, including its beliefs about the Mahdi, the Deceitful Messiah, and the return of Jesus. Then turning to Islam’s true nature and history — from its founding through the rise of the Ottoman Empire, through a transformative era in Islamic history, and from the end of World War I to today, including the landmark events of 1979. It then examines, directly from the Quran and the hadiths themselves, Islam’s own instructions regarding violence, deception (taqiyyah), and the treatment of Jews and Christians, before surveying the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, interfaith dialogue, the infiltration of non-Muslim countries, terrorism, and violence against the United States and Israel. The course closes with an assessment of where Islam appears to be heading. Extensive photography and 194 cited sources support the material throughout. Required coursework for the Ministerial Ordination Program’s Major World Religions requirement, and valuable to any student who wants a thorough, honest, Scripturally grounded understanding of Islam — its beliefs, its history, and its true nature.
